My Story

    – Nicole Alexander, Founder of The Teal Society

The Teal Society was born from a deeply personal loss and a powerful commitment to change.

My mother passed away from vaginal cancer, a disease that is rarely talked about and often diagnosed too late. Walking through that journey with her opened my eyes to the silence, stigma, and lack of accessible information surrounding gynecological cancers. I witnessed firsthand how many women like my mother face not only the illness itself, but also the loneliness of not knowing where to turn for answers, support, or hope.

Her story became my calling. I knew I had to take action not just to honor her memory, but to help other women and families avoid the same heartbreak.

In 2014, I founded The Teal Society to shine a light on the cancers no one talks about enough: cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal, and vulvar. Our mission is to break the silence through:

Awareness

Sharing life-saving education about prevention, early detection, and treatment.

Advocacy

Encouraging screenings such as Pap smears and HPV vaccines.

Support

Partnering with global organizations to ensure women have access to the care and resources they need.

Today, The Teal Society is an international nonprofit active in Qatar, South Africa, and the United States. We host survivor wellness retreats, lead Teal Talks to amplify women’s voices, and partner with medical leaders to promote early detection campaigns. This work is my mother’s legacy. Through The Teal Society, I am determined to transform grief into action building a global community where no woman has to face gynecological cancer alone, and where hope, prevention, and early detection save lives.
